Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

Know what to expect before you receive care.

If you do not have health insurance, or if you choose not to use your insurance benefits to pay for therapy, federal law gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before services are provided. At Courtney Becker Psychotherapy, I believe transparency is an important part of building trust. If you are paying privately for therapy, I will provide a Good Faith Estimate in accordance with federal law.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of the expected charges for your mental health care. The estimate includes the reasonably expected costs of therapy services based on the information available at the time it is prepared. It is designed to help you understand the anticipated cost of treatment before you begin care. A Good Faith Estimate is an estimate—not a contract. Your actual services or treatment needs may change over time.

Who can receive a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate if you: Do not have health insurance, or Choose not to use your health insurance to pay for therapy services. You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any time before beginning treatment.

If your bill is higher than your estimate

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. Information about this process will be included with your Good Faith Estimate.
